What on Earth is a nationwide project,by the British Science Association and iSpot, to celebrate National Science and Engineering Week 2010. The aim is to get people  to go outside into their parks and gardens and to take photos of the plants and creatures they don’t recognise. In exchange, What on Earth sends each person a packet of seeds specially designed to grow a range of plants that will encourage a greater level of biodiversity (subject to availability), and an information and education pack.

This site, from the British Museum and the BBC, attempts to show the history of the world through the objects that humans have made. You can view the artefacts by navigating using a timeline or browse them by location, theme, culture, size, colour or material  The resource is linked to various BBC radio and television programmes, features objects from museums all over the country (as well as public contributions) and the site includes a collection of support material for  the primary school use.

Tony Crowley has adapted his excellent secondary school career awareness resources to make them useful in a primary school setting. The materials, which are illustrated, teach about the world of work through games, group activities, quizzes, questionnaires and worksheets. Because of the size of the files, they’ve been made available through the social publishing website Scribd.
